In early 2020, as part of our efforts to support good causes, we signed up with Ecologi (Offset Earth at the time) who plant trees & fund climate projects across the globe.
We started off with a simple contribution that aimed to offset our own carbon footprint, increasing our monthly commitment in July 2020 to include a contribution to their newly launched UK re-forestation projects.
As well as our own contributions, we also ask users of our free Open-Source software projects to “buy trees” if they find our software useful – an approach inspired by the Treeware movement.
One year on, and we’ve reached 12 months of climate positivity. At the time of writing, our overall “forest” stands at 1,475 trees, with almost half of that (700) coming from donations from users of our free software packages.
